What vehicle verification means in Punjab

Vehicle verification is a quick online check against government-linked records. On the official Excise MTMIS portal you can usually see owner identity fields, engine and chassis numbers, and token-tax related clues for vehicles registered in Punjab.

How to verify on official MTMIS (step by step)

  1. Open the official portal at mtmis.excise.punjab.gov.pk.
  2. Enter the registration number exactly as printed on the plate when possible.
  3. Complete the captcha / security check.
  4. Submit the search and review owner, vehicle, and payment-related fields.
  5. Match engine and chassis numbers to the physical vehicle before paying any deposit.

If the first format fails, try with and without dashes or spaces. Punjab plates are stored in more than one pattern.

SMS option

When you have no internet, many users send the registration number by SMS to 8785 for a basic reply (standard SMS charges apply). The web portal remains better for a full on-screen record.

FAQ

Is online verification free?

Public web checks are generally free. SMS may carry network charges. Official transfers and cards involve government fees.

Can I search by CNIC on the public portal?

Public MTMIS-style tools are built around registration numbers, not open CNIC browsing, for privacy reasons.

Does MTMIS cover Islamabad or Karachi vehicles?

No. Punjab MTMIS covers Punjab-registered vehicles. Other regions use their own systems.
